On Tuesday, a 17-year-old Syrian girl attempted suicide by jumping from Raouche Rock.

According to reports, the girl was experiencing severe psychological distress, which led her to leap from the rock into the water below. Members of the Civil Defense, who were present at the scene, quickly intervened. They rescued her from the water using a boat from the Marine Rescue Unit and brought her to the nearby beach.

The girl was then transported to Makassed Hospital in Beirut for treatment. She was found to be unconscious upon arrival and had sustained minor fractures and bruises from the fall.

The Lebanese Civil Defense issued a statement confirming the rescue: "At 7:30 AM on August 13, 2024, the Maritime Rescue Unit of the Civil Defense saved a Syrian woman who had fallen in front of Raouche Rock in Beirut and transferred her to Makassed Hospital for medical care."
