"Lebanon Debate"
Without disclosing new details regarding negotiations concerning the future of Nidaa Al Watan, the newspaper announced to its reporters and editors that it will be indefinitely closing its doors on June 14th.
It assured its employees that a meeting will be held within two weeks to discuss their entitlements and present compensation options.
According to "Lebanon Debate" sources, employees who agree to the offered compensations can receive them, while those unsatisfied have the right to pursue legal measures for better compensation.
In attempts to stop the closure of Nidaa Al Watan, many negotiations with numerous investors, businessmen, and politicians took place to purchase the newspaper owned by the Al-Mkataf family, yet they did not yield positive outcomes.
This closure is not unprecedented for Nidaa Al Watan. The newspaper, established in the early 1990s under owner Henry Sfeir, ceased publication in 2000 due to financial difficulties.
In 2012, many attempts surged to revive the newspapers following rumors of its purchase by President Najib Mikati, yet they proved to be unsuccessful.
Six years later, Nidaa Al Watan resurfaced in 2019 under the editorship of journalist Bechara Charbel, continuing until the present day.
