After Posting Video of Assassination Claim, Hamas Settles the Controversy

“Lebanon Debate”

The Israeli army has released a video claiming the assassination of Hamas leader Mohamed Deif, following a previous assertion of his death in an attack on Khan Yunis that resulted in numerous casualties.

However, Hamas media relations official Mahmoud Taha has firmly denied these claims in an interview with Lebanon Debate. Taha asserts that Deif is still alive and was not killed in the raid Israel claims targeted him.

Taha suggested that Israel's claims are part of an attempt to inflate its perceived successes, particularly after the recent deaths of Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas' political bureau, in Iran, and Fouad Chokr, a commander in Hezbollah, in Dahiyeh, Beirut. He argued that these allegations aim to mislead the Israeli public into believing that Israel has achieved significant victories in Gaza, while in reality, it has faced failures and resorted to deceit elsewhere.

Taha also speculated that the Israeli narrative might be a strategy to provoke Hamas into revealing Deif's location, making it easier for Israel to target him. He emphasized that Hamas is aware of this potential tactic and will not be drawn into it.
