Gebran Bassil continues his exploratory theatrics through directed questions, with answers that are “from and within” them, reaching only a narrow group of his followers. This aims to incite public opinion against MP Alan Aoun, setting the stage for a premeditated decision to eliminate him.
It is worth noting that Bassil sometimes alleges that Aoun voted for Frangieh in the June 14 session, despite knowing that the vote was secret and despite the fact that Aoun did not take any public stance that could hint at this direction.
Bassil also claims that Aoun violated the directives given to him, as seen in Aoun’s statement about the internal situation of the Free Patriotic Movement in response to a question. Meanwhile, Bassil frequently uses both public and private events to criticize his ministers with accusations and prejudgments.
Well-informed sources have also revealed that Bassil plans to use the current crisis between Lebanon and Israel to issue a decision to separate Aoun, fearing that he could not do so in a normal situation without provoking public uproar.
