Caretaker Foreign Minister Habib Abdallah confirmed that the recent Israeli strike on the suburbs, the murder of Imsail Haniyeh, and the latest developments in Baghdad are hindering U.S. President Joe Biden's initiative for a ceasefire in Gaza. These events also obstruct the diplomatic and peaceful path that Lebanon is advocating for, particularly the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701 and all related UN resolutions.
Bou Habib added in an interview with CNN that the recent expansion of the conflict area due to Israeli aggression has become a serious concern. He emphasized that the U.S. must recognize the critical need for serious efforts toward a ceasefire, halting the violence, and activating a peace plan.
