“Lebanon Debate”
Following the recent Israeli aggression on the southern suburbs, concerns about potential food shortages have risen, especially if the situation escalates into a full-scale war.
In response, Minister of Economy Amin Salam assured "Lebanon Debate" that there is no cause for alarm. He emphasized that there is a sufficient stock of foodstuffs, as the government has already experienced similar situations and ensured that markets are well-supplied. Salam mentioned that he attended an emergency meeting with food importers to confirm stock levels.
He reassured the public that there is no immediate risk of food or flour shortages, with supplies available for at least three to four months. While acknowledging concerns about potential disruptions at ports, Salam highlighted that local food industries have significantly developed, reducing reliance on imports.
He also revealed that a health and nutritional action plan is being developed over the next two days to address any emerging needs.
