Reuters reported that Washington is leading a diplomatic effort to deter Israel from targeting Beirut and its southern suburbs in response to the Golan incident.
Axios quoted an American official as saying that the Biden administration is working to prevent further escalation due to any Israeli retaliation and potential counteractions by Hezbollah.
Reuters also noted an Iranian official's statement that Washington has sent messages to Tehran three times since Saturday, warning that further escalation would be detrimental to all parties involved.
Additionally, a French diplomat revealed that Paris has been facilitating communication between Israel and the party since the Majdal Shams incident to help de-escalate the situation.
Earlier, U.S. National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby stated that "Israel has every right to respond to Hezbollah's attack."
Kirby added, "We believe there is still time and space for a diplomatic solution to the escalation between Israel and Hezbollah. Our support for Israel's security remains strong and unwavering against all Iran-backed threats, including those posed by Hezbollah."
