“Lebanon Debate”
Tripoli, the capital of the north, remains in a constant state of tension due to the chaos caused by uncontrolled weapons, which jeopardizes the security and safety of its residents. Almost every day brings new security incidents, including looting, shootings, and assaults. The incident involving 8-year-old Abdul Karim Saleh Kharba last night is a stark example of this ongoing crisis.
According to "Lebanon Debate," a conflict erupted on al-Horriya Street between two families and quickly escalated into a shooting. During the commotion, Abdul Karim and his mother were caught in the crossfire. The child was struck by three bullets, one in his stomach and two in his foot.
The child was initially taken by the Red Cross to Islamic Hospital for treatment, where his condition was reported as moderate. He has since been transferred to Tripoli Governmental Hospital for surgery and is in need of blood units.
Abdul Karim's mother also sustained a minor injury from a stray bullet, though she was fortunate to avoid more serious harm.
Security forces have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the shooting and to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
