“Lebanon Debate”
Forest fires have been spreading uncontrollably for the fourth consecutive day in Kharaj Bazal and Qoubayat, now reaching Habashit in Akkar governorate.
Residents living near the pine forests endured a difficult night as the fire expanded, forcing many to evacuate their homes.
According to "Lebanon Debate," fire brigades from the Civil Defense, the Lebanese Army, the Union of Municipalities of Jurd al-Qaita, and the rapid intervention team from the "Darb Akkar" association have been working tirelessly throughout the night to combat the blaze.
Reports indicate that more than 15 firefighters developed symptoms of shortness of breath and stress, with five being transported to Al Habtoor Hospital in Harrar by Lebanese Red Cross teams for treatment.
Since 7 a.m., a military helicopter has been deployed to assist in firefighting efforts. The situation remains dire due to high temperatures and strong winds, with the burned area now estimated at over 25 hectares, including significant olive groves, vineyards, and fig orchards.
