Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib said: "We have received assurances from the concerned countries that the Israeli response will be limited, as will the response from Hezbollah."
He added in an interview with "Al-Jadeed," "It is quite ironic that Israel, which has committed massacres in Gaza, wants to defend civilians in the occupied Syrian Golan. We condemn any attack on civilians anywhere."
Bou Habib commented on the repercussions of the Majdal Shams incident, stating: "There will be an Israeli escalation and a response from Hezbollah."
Bou Habib also mentioned that "any major attack by Israel on Lebanon would lead to a regional war," adding that "the war would be devastating for everyone, not just Lebanon as some might think, so it is better to exercise restraint."
He revealed that "Lebanon has asked the United States to urge Israel to exercise restraint amid recent tensions."
He also called for "the formation of an international committee to investigate the source of the attack on Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan, and suggested cooperation with UNIFIL."
