“Lebanon Debate”
On Sunday evening, an incident occurred along the Mina highway, marked by gunfire and injuries, highlighting ongoing security evasion issues in Lebanon, particularly in the northern regions.
Lebanon Debate learned that a confrontation erupted between individuals identified as M.A. and F.S. at the Citadel roundabout on the Mina highway. The situation quickly escalated into gunfire when M.A. allegedly discharged a military pistol, injuring F.S. in the hand before fleeing the scene.
F.S. was promptly transported to a local hospital where he received treatment, and his condition was reported as stable.
The incident heightened tensions among local residents, leading to a group of young men from the S family stopping a car on the highway and detaining its driver, identified as A.A., who is reportedly a relative of the shooter. A.A. was later handed over to Lebanese Army Intelligence for questioning.
While the exact motives behind the shooting remain unclear, initial information suggests it stemmed from ongoing provocations between the parties involved.
Security forces are actively investigating the incident and pursuing M.A., who is currently out of sight.
