On Friday, U.S. Special Envoy Amos Hochstein stated, according to "Al-Jadeed," that "we are working to end the war in Gaza and southern Lebanon and hope to resolve the presidential vacancy in Lebanon."
He added, "We hope not to need more than 18 months of extension for the Lebanese in America and are focusing on revitalizing the Lebanese economy through various means."
Hochstein explained that "Hezbollah initiated the war on Israel from Lebanon and has linked the situation to developments in Gaza," stressing that fighting in Lebanon will persist until it ceases in Gaza.
He confirmed that "It is time to complete the first phase of the ceasefire and release some hostages before progressing to the second phase, which is a full cessation of hostilities."
Hochstein also noted that "Netanyahu's visit to the United States was successful. We discussed the ceasefire process, civilian protection, and exerted pressure on the armed Palestinian factions to negotiate and resolve the conflict."
