A tragic accident occurred early Thursday morning when pick-up truck collided with an electricity pole in a town in Batroun. The crash resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to nine others aboard.
According to reports, the deceased and injured, all residents of Ain al-Dhahab in Akkar's hinterlands, were en route to the upper Batroun area to collect two containers as part of their routine. It was discovered that the driver had fallen asleep, causing the vehicle to veer out of control and collide with the pole.
The Lebanese Red Cross and Civil Defense promptly arrived at the scene, transporting the casualties to hospitals in Byblos and Batroun.
Military and security forces also arrived at the scene to launch an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.
