On Thursday, Prime Minister Najib Mikati issued Memorandum No. 26/2024, declaring "national mourning in remembrance of the Beirut port explosion tragedy," referencing Decree No. 15215 dated 27/9/2005 and its amendments, particularly Decree No. 8007 dated 23/7/2021.
The memorandum states, "The nation will observe national mourning on Sunday, August 4, 2024, in memory of the Beirut port explosion tragedy. Flags will be flown at over public administrations, institutions, and municipalities, while radio and television programming will be adjusted to commemorate this solemn memorial and show solidarity with the families of the martyrs and injured."
