"Lebanon Debate"
Sidon has been experiencing a water shortage for some time, which is worsening the life crises that residents face, especially since entire neighborhoods do not receive any water. This issue is compounded by the electricity crisis, which hinders the provision of essential services necessary for a dignified life.
In this context, Police Chief Bader El Din Kawam confirmed in an interview with "Lebanon Debate" that the water crisis is linked to the electricity crisis and the lack of fuel for power plants. As the fuel crisis has worsened, several areas are experiencing severe water shortages, leading to complete cuts in supply.
He also clarified that the water crisis has negatively impacted local businesses, prompting complaints from residents. MP Osama Saad has raised concerns about the growing anger among citizens in Sidon, warning that it could lead to social unrest.
Kawam further noted that there are political factors contributing to the worsening of the water crisis and the delays in addressing this issue. He emphasized that only the municipality and the MP can resolve it, as it is a developmental crisis.
