Melania Trump described the perpetrator of the assassination attempt on her former husband, President Donald Trump, as a "monster," condemning the shooting incident that injured the Republican presidential candidate in November.
She wrote on her X account: "A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald’s passion, his laughter, ingenuity, love of music and inspiration."
The incident occurred while the former president was delivering a speech to a crowd of supporters at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania last Saturday and secret Service agents immediately escorted the 78-year-old Trump away from the rally site as blood streamed down his face.
As he was being escorted out, the Republican candidate raised his fist before the crowd in a defiant gesture.
One person at the scene was killed, and two others present were seriously injured, while the suspect was killed.
