كتب وزير الصحة العامّة فراس أبيض في سلسلة تغريدات على حسابه عبر "تويتر": "موجة Omicron التي بدأت قبل ثلاثة أسابيع في لبنان تتحول إلى تسونامي".
وأضاف، "لا يزال الوضع في المستشفيات ووحدات العناية المركزة مستقرًا، ويتم تعزيز القدرات، وعلى صعيد آخر، هناك تفاقم لمشكلة النقص في الأدوية، خاصة لعلاج السرطان والحليب مؤخرًا".
وسأل أبيض: "لماذا؟ وماذا بعد".

وتابع، أنه "تم تطوير آلية حصول المستوردين على موافقات مسبقة للدعم من قبل مصرف لبنان وقد أصبحت ممكننة جزئيا. إلا أن عطلة الأعياد التي تشهد توقف الشركات العالمية عن تلقي طلبات الإستيراد فرضت تأخير وصول الشحنات. ولكن العجلة تعود الآن للدوران".
وإستكمل قائلاً: "ففي الأسبوع المقبل سيتم تسليم الصيدليات كميات كبيرة من الحليب، كما أن أدوية الأمراض السرطانية والمزمنة في طريقها إلى لبنان قريبا. وبواسطة الآلية الجديدة، قد يستمر نقص الأدوية في السوق ولكن بالحد الأدنى".
وأكد وزير الصحة العامة أن "كل فريق الوزارة يبذل جهوداً حثيثة لتأمين الحاجات المطلوبة من الحليب والأدوية بغض النظر عن النقص الحاد في الموارد. ولكن ذلك ليس عذراً، فالتأجيل يزعج الناس بالفعل، ومن الأفضل العمل لتحسين الأوضاع بدلاً من الإكثار في الكلام".

3/4 Things now are back on track. Next week, vey large quantities of milk will be delivered to pharmacies. Medications for cancer and chronic illness are also on the way, and will arrive soon. With the new process, shortages may still occur, but will be at a minimum.

4/4 Everyone at @mophleb is working hard to insure the availability of the needed milk and medications, despite severe scarcity of resources. This is not an excuse, but a fact. Delays rightfully upset people. Yet, time is better spent working, not talking, to make things better.

كما أعلن أنه "أكثر من 20000 شخصاً، بما في ذلك معلمون وطلاب تلقوا لقاحهم اليوم."
وتابع، "في لبنان، ليست اللقاحات إلزامية وهي مجانية، ويتم تقديمها للجميع، بما في ذلك اللاجئين والعمال المهاجرين الأجانب."
وقال أبيض: "اللقاحات تنقذ الأرواح ولكن الجهل نعمة بالنسبة للبعض".

وفي وقتٍ لاحقٍ، أعلن وزير الصحة العامة فراس أبيض، أن "عدد الملقحين اليوم السبت في ماراتون فايزر للاساتذة والتلامذة وكل من يرغب بأخذ اللقاح، بلغ 30582 شخصا".
